Lots of New Stuff!!

Hello All!

I know it has been a L-O-N-G time since I have blogged.  The last year has just been such an amazing experience!  The bakery has grown so much, and the love and support that I feel from everyone is just completely overwhelming and I just can't say thank you enough!  I love all of you!  I just wanted to drop a quick note to let everyone know that there have been updates to all of the pictures, CAKES, COOKIES, CUPCAKES (which is now CUPCAKES &CAKE POPS), and OTHER GOODIES.  I have also added a flavor list of all of our cake, cupcake, cake pop, icing/fillings, and cookie flavors.

I also wanted to let you all know that I WILL be blogging more from now on.  It is something that although brief, was something that I loved to do and I miss it all of the time.  So be looking out for new blog posts and again thank you all for all of your support and love over the last year!!

A wedding to remember...

One of my best friends, Sarah, got married this past December.  I was lucky enough to get to do all of her cakes and desserts for the reception and gift bags. It was the biggest order I've ever done, and it was so amazing and wonderful to get to be a part of Sarah and Jeffs' special day.
My frIend, Ashley Rutland, who owns Ashley Rutland Photography, did the photos for the wedding.  She is an amazing photographer in the DFW area and if you're around here you should really check her out!

Ashley had a friend of hers, a blogger named Kim, do a write up of the wedding.  Kim's an amazing mom, wife, and blogger, and you can read her blog here at:

I wanted to share her write up with you.  It really encompasses the atmosphere and feeling of the wedding, and Sarah and Jeff as well!!
Winter weddings always seem to capture a certain type of elegance that can only be enhanced by the magic of the season. …

This weekend...

So this weekend, with a very small break between bookings, I decided to make some mexican shortbread cookies called Hojarascas, and some sweet empanadas with apple, pineapple, sweet potato, and cream cheese fillings.

I'm practicing this weekend because I would like to take some sweets to my hubby's parents' 50th wedding anniversary/mass in a couple of weeks, and I definitely need to practice first right?  (Or I just want to eat this stuff and this is a great excuse...)

The hojarascas came out really well.  My husband is obsessed with these cookies. So much so, that I have to literally drag him away from them every time we go to the local Mexican market, which isn't easy, he's a big guy.  And determined.  I had put off making these cookies because all of the recipes I found were pretty basic and I just knew there was a better, more authentic, recipe out there.  And I wasn't disappointed.  Sonia Mendez Garcia at hispanickitchen.com has just about the best H…

These are a few of my favorite things....

My cousin Tiffany is a very special cousin to me...  Don't get me wrong, I love all of my cousins with all of my heart, but with Tiffany, we have always had a special bond.  I have always looked up to her, from her gorgeousness, to her dimples, to her magnetic personality, ever since I can remember.  She says I even called her mama when I was a baby, which she loved...

So when she called me, asking to make a cake for her daughter Callie's graduation cake, I jumped on it before I even knew what type of cake she wanted.  I still remember when Tiffany graduated High School, and I remember thinking, "I can't wait to grow up and be just like my Cousin!!!"

I asked Tiffany what kind of cake she wanted, and she just knew that she wanted all of Callie's favorite things on it.  Tiffany told me that Callie loves Paris, Marilyn Monroe, Pink, Makeup, Shoes, Her crosses on her bedroom wall, etc...

At first I was so excited!!!  I love all of these things, and the color sc…
